There are many paths to victory. You can get your points building improvements, and shipping your goods back to Europe. The two can complement each other; some buildings help you build goods, others make it more profitable to sell or ship your goods.
Every turn you'll be faced with tough choices. But be careful, sometimes choosing something that looks good can give you neighbor a great opportunity to stab you in the back! (be very careful about choosing the craftsman phase, it is particularly dangerous!)
There are several conditions that can cause the game to end abruptly. You'll need to keep an eye out for sudden game ends, and know when it is to your advantage to bring the game to an end. (Posted on 9/25/11)
