Dixit - The Family Game of Storytelling Reviews

This game has been recommended to me for quite some time, yet I've always shied away since the description seemed to similar to games like Apples to Apples, which I'm not a fan of. Well BGR's price was good and so I decided to give this game a go. I'm VERY glad I did. Upon opening, I already liked how the box was well utilized as the scoreboard. The cards then quickly caught my attention as each one depicts a different and fantastic illustration, no numbers or text, just beautifully drawn artwork.

The rules are learned in seconds and I was shocked at just how easy yet creative this game is. The first player gives a description, story, song, etc about his/her card, not too vague but definitely not too precise. Everyone else then plays a card they have which matches the description. All cards are shuffled and players guess which card belongs to the "storyteller" by placing a marker in front of them. If at least one but NOT all players guess the storyteller's card, the teller receives points. Votes for other cards give points to the player playing that specific card.

I can honestly recommend this game to anyone and be confident that they'll enjoy it. (Posted on 4/13/11)
